Visiting the Grandparents

Grandpa:  Is this your fifth or sixth year at that job?
Stephanie:  [silent computation] Twelfth
Grandpa:  Seventh?
Stephanie:  No, TWELFTH.
Grandpa:  When can you retire?
Stephanie:  When I'm 55.
Grandpa:  What is that, about 5 more years?
Stephanie:  No, I'll be 35 this year, so 20 more years.
Grandpa:  Oh, I thought you were older than that.
Grandma:  [laughs]

Gawd. I wish I couldn't say this but...I can totally relate...to your grandfather!

This is absolutely hysterical. Thank you for sharing this. I remember my Dad in his alzheimer's state greeting me with "You're fat." I acted as if all was well and then cried on the way home because in his mind that was the first thing he had to say to me. This could be like that but is sort of precious funny -- depending on the mood you're in, I guess. How did you react?

I should have noted the twinkle in Grandpa's eye. He was teasing me. His body and ears are failing him terribly, but his mind is doing pretty well.
