a quick update and a question

I survived. I'm not supposed to talk about what they asked me or what I said. It wasn't fun, but I'm sure it could have been worse.

So, just so we can talk about something else, I have a question for you... I'm getting a decent tax refund, and I'm trying to decide what to do with it.

Should I/we

  • get new carpet for the bedrooms and bamboo or wood floor for the rest of the house?
  • take the kids for a mini vacation to Disneyland and stay at a hotel there?
  • put it in a savings account and forget about it?

Pick one.

Oh my God. Definitely not #3. Wood floors would bring you pleasure for years, but a trip to Disneyland? The kids would never forget it. Could you somehow do both? Wood floor in the room you occupy most often and cheaper hotel?

I'm with May, in theory. Disney would be awesome and flooring would too!

What do YOU want?

Ah, that damn mouse is too rich... I would not give him a penny of my money! hee hee!

Maybe you could put it into a savings account for the time being, and then take a breather and decide... luxuriate in the process of deciding and having choices!

Ok, I'm lame. Truth is I donno... I am going to jump on the Ms Moon train here I guess.

But congratulations on surviving your day, and for getting a hefty refund. Good job.

May - #3 actually made me laugh... I'm not too good with savings.

ATT - I said pick one!

Ms. Moon - Everything :)

PF - Taking a breather would be smart, but me, smart and money don't know eachother very well.

I vote for the irresponsible, but fun, thing. Go figure. I vote for Disneyland and for you to go make memories with the kids.

Glad you have some money coming.

SB - Yeah, fun would be good.

I also feel the need to further respond to May's comment... we've already done that... replace the floor in our most used room. We used to have carpet in the living room, and we put some cheap laminate in there about 3 years ago. Thing is, we have this open floor plan where the living room flows into the dining room flows into the kitchen flows into the laundry room flows into the hallway flows into the bathroom. And right now there's this ugly line down the separation between the living room and the dining room and between the living room and the kitchen where it goes from laminate to vinyl that also looks like wood, but the vinyl is torn in a few places. So... whether the time is now or next year... all of the hard floors need to be redone to be the same and better. I would do the entire house in hard flooring, but my husband feels strongly about carpet and wants some *at least* in the bedroooms. The carpet we have now in the bedrooms is AWEFUL. Stained and warn and generally disgusting. So that's why, to me, it seems kind of all or nothing to me, which I know isn't always the best way to do a thing. And now I've written an entire blog post about flooring right here in my own comments section. :)

Is it Friday yet?
