Saturday morning

Austin and I sat in the pepper tree.
Under the branches and behind the curtain of leaves.

We listened to the bees buzzing.
Dozens buzzing, but only a few to be seen.

I tried to explain about bees and honey and flowers and pollen.
Four-year-olds don’t care about symbiotic relationships.

After we’d been quiet for a few minutes, the birds came to join us.

Our tummies told us it was time to go inside for lunch.

Oh, PF, that's funny. I hadn't thought of that, but you're right.

You sat in the tree. I love that image. I used to do that when I was little.
